Notes:
• Renee Montgomery scored 29 points on 10-of-20 shooting including five 3-points to lead the Connecticut Sun to their sixth straight home win. Tina Charles and Sandrine Gruda each scored 12 and former Fever guard Tan White added 10 for the Sun.

• The Fever loss ends a three-game win streak for Indiana. The two teams play at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sunday (6:00 p.m.).

• Jessica Davenport scored a career-high 18 points off the bench to pace four double-figure scorers for Indiana. The Fevers Katie Douglas also hit five 3-points to finish with 15 points against her former team. Ebony Hoffman scored 13 points and Tamika Catchings added 12 points, eight rebounds and six steals in the losing effort. Catchings scored in double-figures for the 27th consecutive game. Her steals were the most in the WNBA this season.

• Davenport shot 8-of-8 from the floor to record the best field-goal percentage in Fever history, and record the fourth-most field goals without a miss in league history. Since beginning the season 0-2, a Fever bench player has scored in double figures in seven straight games. Indiana is 5-2 in those games.

• Connecticut opened the final quarter on a 10-2 run to regain the lead and after the game was tied 72-72 at the 3:00 mark, the Sun scored eight unanswered points for an 80-72 advantage with 1:12 remaining.

• Indiana outscored the Sun 9-2 to begin the second half and took its first lead, 48-47, on a 3-pointer by Katie Douglas. The Fever outscored the Sun 23-12 in the third period and led 62-57 entering the fourth quarter.

• Connecticut led by as many as 12 in the opening half, but a 15-5 Indiana run closed the deficit to 35-33 with 3:18 before intermission. The Sun led 45-39 at the half.

• Indiana outrebounded the Sun 38-34 and recorded a season-high 13 steals, but the Sun countered with 46 percent shooting and 10 3-pointers.

Quotes:

Fever head coach Lin Dunn:
“You have to give Renee Montgomery credit tonight. She just torched us. That was the difference in the game.”

“I thought [Connecticut] played harder, smarter and tougher than we did; and despite all that, we had our chances to win the game. I was really disappointed with the way we started the game.”

Fever center Jessica Davenport:
“They were just going in for me today. We didn’t start the game so well, but we played with more intensity to begin the second half. We did everything we could to get back in the game, but we couldn’t hold the lead in the end.”

Fever forward Tamika Catchings;
“Renee had a great game. But one of the things we want to be known as is a great defensive team and 29 points is too many points for us to give up to one person. But, hey, she played great and we have two days to regroup before seeing them Sunday again.”
